17th Annual State Conference of CTE and One Day National level Seminar on Leadership Role of Teacher Education Institutions in Present Scenario was held at GHG Harparkash College of Education for Women, Sidhwan Khurd (Ludhiana) on March 31, 2017. Various academicians and scholars from Educational Institutes expressed their views and experiences on learning opportunities offered by the Teacher Education Institutions.

Sangha Fellow Panjab University, Chandigarh and Principal Dasmesh Girls College of Education, Badal, Dr. Jaspal Singh, Associate Professor Deptt. of Distance Education, Jammu University, Jammu, Dr. Jatinder Grover, Dean Faculty of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Kulwinder Singh, Chief Patron CTE, Dr. Jatinder Grover, Dean Faculty of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh, Dr. Jagdish Bains Principal Dev Samaj College of Education, Ferozepur. All the Guests, Principals of different institutions and delegates were welcomed by college Principal Dr. Baljeet Kaur Gill. Chief Guest Prof. K.M. Bhandarkar, National President, Council for Teacher Education inaugurated the seminar by lighting the ceremonial lamp. While delivering the Keynote Address Professor Nandita Shukla Singh emphasized that Teacher Education in India has to be responsive. She further said that leadership is the ability to develop a vision that motivates others to move with a passion towards a common goal. She said that there is a need of self awareness.
During the first intellectual session Dr. S.S. Sangha deliberated that leadership is an indispensable element in the process of initiating and sustaining the development of quality culture in organizations and is of utmost importance in educational institutions.
In the second session eminent academician Dr. Jaspal Singh, Associate Professor, Deptt. of Distance Education, Jammu University, Jammu Spoke about the present scenario of teacher education institutions in India.
Dr. K.M. Bhandarkar in his Presidential Address deliberated that great efforts are required to create teaching professionals. To become a leader he said that there is a need to convert our weaknesses into strengths.
After the Presidential Address by Dr. K.M. Bhandarkar, International biannual refereed journal ‘Research Insights in Education’ and Anthology of Seminar papers in the form of book was released by eminent educationist, visionaries and members of college management President S. Surjit Singh, Secretary Dr. Harmail Singh Sidhu, Dr. H.S. Sur, S. Pritam Singh Johal. CTE felicitations were awarded to candidates who completed their Doctorate in Education. The seminar was attended by 51 delegates from different institutions. Altogether 63 papers were presented in technical sessions during the seminar. After the Presidential Remarks by Dr. Jatinder Grover, the seminar ended with a vote of thanks from the host college.
